Falcons defense is ready for Colin Kaepernick, Michael Crabtree

Falcons CB Dunta Robinson said he felt confident that the defense can stop Colin Kaepernick and the 49ers' offense this weekend because of previous experience against running quarterbacks. The Falcons have played against Russell Wilson, Robert Griffin III and Cam Newton earlier this season."I think we've done some good things against the running quarterbacks," said Robinson. "We've been hurt by some running quarterbacks, and we've done some good things against some running quarterbacks. If we want to continue to play, if we want to continue to be the team we know we can be, then this is the time for us to stand up on Sunday and do whatever it takes to get this win."

The Falcons gave up several chunks of yardage, but have a 3-1 record against Griffin, Newton and Wilson combined. They struggled against Wilson as he threw for 385 yards and two touchdown passes in a losing effort in the Divisional playoff round last week. Griffin was knocked out of the game when they faced him in Week 5, while they allowed 202 combined rushing yards in two games to Newton. Their only loss came to the Panthers in Week 14. All three wins were won by a combined margin of 13 points against the dual-threat quarterbacks. Robinson admitted that Kaepernick might be one of the fastest quarterbacks in the NFL. The defense feels they're capable of stopping him from being effective. Kaepernick's breath-taking 56-yard touchdown run against the Packers last week was something Robinson took note of. He said Kaepernick is similar to Cam Newton's skill set with his arm and running ability.

"We've faced bigger quarterbacks with size and strength," said Robinson. "He may be the fastest quarterback in the league today and not even defensive backs can catch him. This is a guy that we also have to worry about in the pass game. He's not a guy who's going to drop back, tuck it and run. You look at him on film and he can throw the ball pretty well."Last week, Kaepernick set the record for most rushing yards by a quarterback with 181 yards. Not only was he dangerous on the ground, but through the air as well.
